True to yourself

Cultural Assimilation

Here a visual demonstration of a figure assimilating to fit in with the rest of the social standard

Assimilation, the demonstration of changing parts of your character, including social personality, to fit in among the societal standards. Many times when people from other countries come to the USA they have a hard time adapting since they came from a country with completely different social standards. The different standards can be a variety of things, such as language, religion, culture or skin tone and more. Many people just feel like its mandatory to hide themselves this way, as if they are under pressure. Many face being bullied in public. It can really be any where, such as schools, parks, stores, or in public in general but even online. Many kids struggle with this in schools caused by being judged, wanting to fit in and be like everyone else that would be labeled as normal. In reality its untrue, just because you are different from others doesn't mean you should want to be them. We are all different and that what's makes each and one of us unique. You should be proud for being yourself and stand out for it, there is no need for shame for it..... its pointless if you are. Even being in a diverse community, people will always the need to hide themselves. For example in the article "Even in a Diverse School, Assimilation Can be a Formidable Force" by Hiba Ali it states "Beachwood takes pride in its diversity and acceptance; however, some students still feel the pressure to assimilate. This mindset to change is caused by pressures to conform to the majority. Pressures from society bring forth a sense of shame regarding differences, causing minorities to feel a need to hide them. Historically, assimilation has wiped out entire cultures and their traditions."This shows that the urge of assimilate will come from anywhere you are because no matter that there are many that are different as you are, you will want to change to fit in.You don't need to change to be accepted.Be true to yourself with no shame and try your best to be proud of it.
